Lately we haven t seen any action from Farhan Akhtar in the field of direction, I guess he was having a break from direction and was trying to prove himself as a good actor. But now he’s back to his direction and has announced the release date of Don 2: the chase continues. Don 2 is the sequel of his first Hindi remake action film Don: the chase begins again. Don was actually made by Chandra Barot in 1978 and was written by Farhan Akhtar s father Javed Akhtar.
Don 2 is the second movie of the sequel which is announced to release on December 23, 2011. The film is co directed by Ritesh Sidhwani and is produced by Mirium Joseph under the banner of Excel Films. The music of this film is given by Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonca, commonly known as Shankar Ehsaan Loy. The lyricist is none other than Javed Akhtar himself. The cast of this film is same. Shahrukh Khan is playing the lead role of Don and the supporting actors are Priyanka Chopra, Isha Kopikar, Arjun Rampal, Boman Irani and Om Puri. Lara Dutta would also be there in the movie.
Farhan Akhtar’s Don was a success in India and at International level as well. In its first week of release the movie made a business of Rs. 30 crore. The plot of this movie was same as the old Don of 1978, but there was a twist in the story from the end. The ending of the remake was different from the original movie. This different ending made this movie a success and paved the way for second film of the sequel.
Unlike Don, Don 2 is a movie made from an original script. The script of this movie is written by Ameet and Amreesh the fans of Don who came forward with the idea and helped Farhan in perusing the chase of Don. Farhan Akhtar is very hopeful about the success of this movie and so are we.
