The movie Japanese wife is inspired by a novel that goes with the same name. it is the story of a Bengali school teacher, who has a Japanese pen pal. The teacher ends up in falling in love with the pen pal. While both the people live at such big distance from each other, both find love in each other without seeing each other. The movie captures how the Japanese girl learns to wear saris and the Bengali teacher learns to fly kites. They exchange gifts too. The teacher is brought up by his only aunt and does not have parents, not any that he knows of. The movie also shows a widow and her son who live in the teacher’s house too. Aparna sen has proved to a great director whose actors perform as though they are the character themselves and thus giving the movie a real life touch.
