Ali Zafar was born on 18th May 1980 in Lahore. He firstly attended the C.A.A. Public School and afterward moved to the Beacon house School System from where he topped in his metric examinations. He graduated from National college of Arts in 2002 with honor, first he worked as a model in several TV advertisement and drama. He acted in the Pakistani television serial Lunda-Bazar, Kanch Ke Par and in the teenage sitcom Kollege Jeans. He also acted in ABrar-ul-haq video Preeto, and then started his carrier as a singer.

He started his music carrier with the album Huqa Paani which was released in Pakistan in 2003 and all over the world in 2005. The album was an immediate hit, sold over 600,000 internationally and won some major awards and nominations. Hindus described him as Kishore Kumar like voice which proved his excellent skills and most versatile singer with excellent vocal tones and qualities. He won the award for Best Album category at the Lux Style Awards in 2004 for his enormous hit album Huqa Pani and also the Best Male Artist at the 2008 MTV awards.

Zafar launched his second album in 2006 named as Masty. Since then he has realsed four videos of Masty called Masty, Sajania, Dehka and Aasman. For release of the album, a press conference was held in Lahore under the banner of Fire Records. The video of the song Dekha is the most expensive video of Pakistan which was shot in Malasiya. Zafar also got the Youth Icon award in the Lux Style Awards 2007, in Malaysia.
